No, it wouldn't be wasted resource. But it might take more effort to
reach your goal, warning-free compilation. And "Sysyphos work" was meant
for fixing *all* packages in MELPA and NonGNU ELPA.

Your other goal, learning more about Elisp, is a honest target anyway.
