I am on Emacs 29.4 and I don't know right off the bat which version and
where do these packages come from.

Apologies for my probably ill-advised initial enthusiasm, I didn't think
about the implications you mention, that's good context. Of course I
don't want anyone to work for free on anything. I am not even attached
to any particular package listed in my TODO file, work could be carried
out on any package we might choose.
I paused for a second when reading "Sysyphos work" before realizing that
you are implying that it would just be wasted resources - am I reading
it correctly?

good to point out that the maintainer is of course under no obligation
to accept patches (that's part of the F/LOSS game).
