[emacs-berlin] Stumped by chruby.el issue

Do any of you have any idea what could be happening here?

Chruby.el is an Elisp clone of chruby, a ruby version switcher. Two people
have now reported this issue where chruby.el sets $PATH and exec-path, but
emacs still picks the wrong Ruby binary.

I'm unable to reproduce it, it might be OS X only, and I'm out of guesses.

Could people on OS X try if they can reproduce the issue? Any idea what
could be happening?
