[emacs-berlin] Cursor move mode changed

Hey folks,

I need a bit of collective Emacs insight here: when I move the the cursor with eg C-p, I often rely on a behavior where if I’m at the end of the line, emacs moves always at the end of lines by itself, instead of trying to stay in the column. 

And that’s greats. It’s what I’ve come to rely on. 

However every now and then something (me probably pressing some keys that trigger it, don’t know which though) that stops this, and instead movement become column-based. 

Does anybody recognize this and has insights into what I’m changing? Right now I literally quit and reopen…
