<p>Dear Emacs list</p>
<p>I will not be able to attend the meetup this week (again),
however I will take on the responsibility of organising the Emacs
assembly at 40c3. I envision having a sort of programme consisting
of "open spaces" aligned to a specific topic. These would take
around 1.5-2 hours where guests interested in that topic are
welcome to join the assembly. I would aim to have 3 topics per day
(they could repeat). I will make this programme visible either on
fahrplan and/or at the assembly table. It would be understood,
that outside the programme the assembly might not be staffed. I
suggest having an assembly with space for 10 persons.</p>
<p>Suggested topics:</p>
<p>+ init.el: includes discussion on starter kits (bedrock, doom,
spacemacs), emacs bankruptcy, migrating init.el to emacs 31 and
any kind of configuration</p>
<p>+ all things org-mode: org as markup language (org-export,
org-publish, authoring document in emacs), org as task and project
manager (GTD, org agenda, emacs diary), org as a better jupyter
notebook (org-babel, litterate programming).</p>
<p>+ emacs for coding: eglot, treesitter, frameworks for agentic
coding.</p>
<p>+ & whatever other volunteers suggest</p>
<p>Holding an open-space as a volunteer would mean having some
experience in the topic and inciting the people at the assembly to
discuss around this subject, provide code examples and encourage
communication between participants around the subject. This should
not demand much preparation, more presence. Ideally we would have
12 volunteers in total, 3 per day to each hold 1 such open space
(for 1.5-2 hours).</p>
<p>I would like to bring the illuminated Emacs sign from c-base and
also have a larger screen (similar setup to our meetups) for
sharing code. @berber: can we get that from c-base and can the
c-base team handle the logistics of bringing to 40c3 venue?</p>
<p>Once the assembly has been approved (towards end of November) I
will start communicating in relevant channels (IRC, reddit,
matrix, ...) to get more volunteers to help run the assembly. </p>
<p>Meanwhile if *you* will be attending and want to help, have a
topic you want to see addressed, want to hold an open space, or
anything else related, do not hesitate to reach out to me. </p>
<p>I could also use help to set up an appropriate channel to
coordinate (IRC or matrix or?). @berber: can you help here? I will
take care to have the assembly registered by the deadline (23.11).</p>
<p>Hope I correctly understood the purpose of an assembly, am open
to any further suggestions/input. </p>
<p>Best</p>
<p>Sebastian</p>

operating system" stereotype, but we can talk about that :)

thank you!

Like I don't know, maybe 37c3, or the ones before covid, I
forgot, there were Emacs assemblies, at least sometimes. Not
the last two times though.

I would love to have an Emacs assembly at 40c3. I have so much
stuff to do though, I wouldn't want to do it alone. Moreso, I
don't even want to be the "main guy" behind it.
<br>
<br>
Also, we should also somehow reach out to more people outside of
emacs- berlin.
<br>
<br>
It can be as modest as we want it to be. A table with 4 chairs
and a sign made of paper. I don't care. But it would just be
nice.

Who is up for this?
