<p>Hello Emacsers,</p>
<p>I relocated from Silicon Valley to Berlin at the end of last month and am looking forward to meeting new people. Ich kann auch Deutsch, aber angeblich nutze diese Liste Englisch.</p>
<p>I first used emacs in 1984 when I was a beginning graduate student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where emacs was developed. In fact, when I was a student, I sometimes saw RMS on campus or somewhere nearby. I've spoken with him a few times in recent years, for example at the LibrePlanet gathering hosted by Free Software Foundation.</p>
<p>Back in the 1980's, I had the famous spiral-bound emacs yellow book. I think that my former boyfriend still has my copy.</p>
<p>My favorite emacs features are the rectangle-manipulation and register-related ones. I'm running version 30.1, which is what Debian Testing currently provides.</p></div></blockquote></div></div><div dir="auto">Welcome to Berlin, from another newcomer, I guess? :)</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">I think it can be inspiring to exchange favorite features, so I'll add from my side: editing in dired (including symlink targets!) and using EDITOR=emacsclient in *shell*.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Cheers,</div><div dir="auto">Alex</div></div>
